the short version
No cookies, no account, nothing sold
We do not set any cookies. There is no login and no user account. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to anybody, and we never have.
The only time we hold your details is if you type them into a form and press the button. Everything else described below is either kept in your own browser, or is the ordinary technical record any website keeps in order to be online at all.
what stays on your device
Your cart and watchlist never leave your browser
The site keeps a handful of things in your browser's own storage so it can remember what you were doing between visits. These are not cookies and are not sent to us. They stay on your machine until you clear them.
- your cart and your watchlist
- a random id for the browsing session, so the page can tell one visit from another
- your filter and display preferences
- restock reminders you have set
- if you have ever opened the admin console, whether you are signed into it
You can wipe all of it at any time by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings. Nothing breaks; the site simply forgets you.
what you send us on purpose
The two forms
The email signup
If you give us an email address, we record the address, any name you typed, the fact that you ticked the consent box, your browser's time zone, and which page the signup came from. It goes into our mailing list so we can email you. That is all it is for.
The wholesale interest form
The form on /wholesale also asks for company, state, rough monthly volume, and whether you buy or sell. Those are optional and they exist so we can judge whether a business side to this site is worth building. We do not pass your address or any of those answers to any seller.
To be removed from either, email hello@legal-leafmarket.com and say so. We will delete the record; we do not require a reason and we will not try to talk you out of it.
the technical record
Analytics, and what our host sees
We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without building a profile of you across sites. We use it to see which pages people read, not who read them.
The site is hosted by Vercel, and like any web host their servers keep ordinary request logs, which include IP addresses. We do not use those logs to identify anyone, but they exist and we would be misleading you to leave them out.
Some pages, the library and the wholesale preview, load typefaces from Google Fonts. That means your browser makes a request to Google to fetch them, and Google sees that request. If that matters to you, it is worth knowing.
who else touches it
The short list of other companies
| who | what they get | why |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel | request logs, page-view counts | hosting and analytics |
| a font request from your browser | typefaces on the library pages | |
| Resend | your email address, if you signed up | sending the emails |
| Google Sheets | your signup record, if you signed up | where the mailing list is kept |
That is the whole list. There is no advertising network, no tag manager, no session recorder, no chat widget and no data broker anywhere on this site.
The last two only receive anything if you actually submitted a form. If you have never typed your address into this site, they have nothing of yours.
when you leave
Clicking through to a shop
When you click a product link you go to that shop's own website, and from that point you are on their site under their privacy policy, not ours. Those links usually carry a referral tag, which tells the shop the visit came from us so that any commission is credited. It does not tell them who you are, because we do not know either.
asking us things
Your data, and how to get rid of it
Email hello@legal-leafmarket.com and ask. You can ask what we hold on you, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it. In practice, for almost everybody, the honest answer will be "an email address, and it is gone now."
This site is for adults 21 and over. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 21, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it.
If we change how any of this works, we will change this page and move the date at the top. We are not going to quietly widen what we collect and leave the old page up.
